I'm often asked how to prevent a sculpture from cracking. The blunt answer is you can't! But strategic positioning stops it being a problem, or - like Tattybogle the Scarecrow - the cracks become part of the movement of the piece.

Two years ago this weekend I was at Skulptur Rabatz where I created this moon-gazing hare wielding a chainsaw! The hare was the centre of a 'sun dial', conducting an orchestra of zodiac sign sculptures.

I've been posting for #LoveParksWeek but not said much about what the week is for. It's essentially about protecting green spaces
For that reason, I've chosen the European Wolf from my #FforestFawr Sculpture Trail for today's post... https://t.co/rupkFoutFo

Has anyone been watching the Olympic skateboarding? My next #LoveParksWeek post is this 'skater chick' I created for @Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay.

Day Two of my #LoveParksWeek posts are all from Maes Y Pant, Wrexham.
The boy was part of a 'kids plant trees' initiative. Stanley harks back to when the park was a quarry & Gwyddion the Wizard... well, what's a Welsh park without mention of Welsh legend somewhere?! https://t.co/bUjImCHqja

I've been posting for #LoveParksWeek but not said much about what the week is for. It's essentially about protecting green spaces, and this Love Parks Week, organisers are calling on the government to address the urgent issues affecting our green spaces, including funding, access, climate change and biodiversity.
For that reason, I've chosen the European Wolf from my #FforestFawr Sculpture Trail for today's post.

The trail highlights local wildlife past and present, with a call to action at the end for us all to do our part to help protect the environment.

Find out more about the trail at https://www.treecarving.co.uk/fforest-fawr-woodland-sculpture-trail/ and more about Love Parks Week at https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/love-parks-week

The European Wolf
Hunting in packs, on the woodland floors,
Through forest and field, and across the moors,
Grey shaggy fur from its head to its paws,
It’s a European wolf, with strong, strong jaws!

Yn hela mewn cnudoedd ar loriau’r goedlan,
drwy fforest a chae, ac ar draws y rhosydd,
wele ffwr blewog, llwyd o’i ben i’w bawennau, –
blaidd Ewropeaidd, – gyda genau cryf, cryf.
