My wife, Liz, and I are off to Japan today for a carving competition. Last year’s trip was fantastic, and I’m sure this one will be just as great – if not, better! We’ll be away for two weeks, but will still keep the blog and our social media up to date while we’re gone.

See you on the other side!

Live Carving Demos at Events

Live Carving Demos at Events 150 150 Simon O'Rourke

carvings-for-collectionThe other day, I set out three small-ish carvings, ready for collection (pictured left). One of them – the bear in the background – I did as a twenty-minute quick-carve as part of the fundraising event we had for Macmillan.

Between the coffee morning and the silent auction, we raised £335, and that’s not including gift aid!

Speaking of speed-carving for charity, though, I did another twenty-minute piece for a networking event recently, too (see here).

I’m bringing a sculpture of a hawk, similar to the one pictured, with me to Llangollen Food Festival this weekend. And I’ll be live carving Wrexham Street Festival on October 29th, as well.

I hope to see you soon!

handmade-personalized-carvingI’m very pleased to announce that Off The Wall by Simon, my brand new Etsy store, is now open!

Please click the link above to see the first set of handmade, one-of-a-kind items.

Currently, there is an offer running, meaning that when you order three items, you’ll get the cheapest absolutely free!

Want to see the range of gifts I offer in person? You’ll get a chance this upcoming weekend (1st and 2nd October) when I’ll be at the Erddig Apple Festival with Hemlock the dragon!

I’ve been carving full-time almost ten years and, as if to celebrate, my official Facebook page has just passed the 10,000 likes mark!

What do I have planned, going forward? An Etsy store! There should be news on that soon but, in the meantime, cake!

On Friday (30th September), I’m hosting a fundraiser for Macmillian Cancer Care in my workshop. Come on down for coffee, cake, and chainsaw carving!
