Man in a Bear Suit – Single life-size figure with removable bear head.
Example cost for a similar sculpture – £6000
This was a fun design I decided to use for a competition in Wisconsin, USA. The log was just the right width to make the figure life-size, and I was able to adjust the angle of one of the arms to stick out enough to hold the bear head.
It was great fun watching people’s reactions when I carved the initial bear shape and cut off the head! I then hollowed out the head, and using an extra piece from the log, I carved the human head and joined it on to the sculpture. I then carved out around the human head to make it look like he was wearing a bear costume, and added little details like a broken zipper, a mouse peeping out of a hole, and worn patches in the suit!
